All about Mini Albums!

I am all for mini albums! (:
I almost can't get enough of them. They are so personal. And they are fun to bring with you, and brag about the fun you had!

I went to Jaisa's a lot in the summer of 2007! We had so much fun! We went to Minneapolis to Hiawatha Park. We saw the waterfall and walked around in the Longfellow Gardens!

I took so many pictures from that week, I had to make a mini album!(:

This is a Creative Memories mini album.
I used brown, greens, blues, and tans to resemble the outdoors. I used ribbon fibers to bind the book.I mated the photos with plain paper, and used patterned paper for the page background.

I also used a lot of hand journaling, and paper embellishments to decorate my album! On this page there eyelets and crystal gems. Also i used ribbon and stickers.

The idea of mini albums is that they somewhat go together. So this album is all about Me and Jaisa. It uses repeating patterns, colors, and ideas.

I miss you Jaisa.

Until next time,
Try a mini album! (:

How to use up those scraps!

Hello! I have a special page for you today. I used my scraps on a page, and it turned out to be another one of my favorites! The picture is simply a silly pose of my cousin Britt, that turned into an ordinary picture for an any time layout.

I first took the picture and matted it with orange, and then again with black.
Then I found the blue for the bottom.
I had the black, blue, and pink papers as scraps on my desk.

Then it was getting interesting with all the colors! I was really starting to like the style.
I found the stickers that matched as well.

Then looking at the page, it felt it was missing something between the white and the blue. So I found some ribbon and made a border covering the two harsh edges of the paper.

Then i made some cute little knots of the same ribbon, and others that matched the colors and used glue dots to adhere those to the page as well.

The title is an orange chip board 'B' that i had, and then I used a die-cutting tool to make the rest. Then I matted them all with the same orange paper as behind the photo.

I added a little phrase at the top of the page, of where and when the picture was taken, and that is my page for today!

I hope I allowed your creative juices to flow to create your own any day page with the use of your scraps!

Until next time! (:

Things I Love

Well I was looking through my scrapbooking pages, and I found this page in my 8 1/2 x 11 book. I remember this page like it was yesterday, even though it is well over many years ago. I was sitting at my desk, and looking at all my die cuts and embellishments that I collected. There were only one or two of each, and I kept them thinking I would use them on my pages. But as I got to looking at them, I realized it was everything that I loved, but simple things that I wouldn't make a page about.

So I decided to take all the little things, and make a page about just that, little "Things I Love". I made my list, and made a template for what my page would look like. I decided I wanted to use stamps for the title. Red paint for love of course. I went to the computer, typed up my list, reset the margins, and printed it right on the background. Then I took all the embellishments, die cuts, and scraps, and placed them by what I wrote.

Some things I wrote: Spending time with family, Playing dice and cards with Grandma, Taking photographs, roasting marshmallows over a bon fire, and many more (:

This page is still one of my favorites, and at the same time, it kind of makes me sad, knowing I don't do some of them anymore. It's crazy how time changes us.

    Until next time,
Keep Loving Life (:

Color Blocking

I have a new page for you today! Its all about Color Blocking!

It is an 8x8 two page spread of my little cousin Keaton. We were sitting at a basketball game and I had my camera out taking pictures of the players and he put his hands up by his face and said "Take a picture of Me!" It was soo cute, that I couldn't resist!

I was and still really am into monochromatic color blocking! For the first page I took two strips of the lighter green and placed it as a border, I placed a border around the photo, and put stickers on white paper and tore around them to give the title a border.

For the second page, I cut out 2.5 inch squares of the light green and placed them on the dark green in a grid pattern. Then I took the photo, and enlarged parts I thought were cute. I zoomed in on his hand, big brown eyes, adorable little nose, and his big smile. I cut the pictures into 1.5 inch squares and placed them on the page with a little border, and wrote what it was. I wrote when he was born, and other phrases that remind me of him. For the number 4 I used green eyelets.

I hope you liked today's page!

Keep Scrappin' (:

Welcome to Ash's Scrapping Corner!

Hello! Welcome to Ash's Scrapping Corner!

I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and my first page.

My name is Ashley Kuphal. I am a student at Ridgewater College. I am in the Sales and Marketing program in hopes to one day own a scrapbooking store I will be able to call my own, and my home!

I am 19 years old, and have been scrapping since Aug of 2004, that is a long time I know!!  I remember my first page very well actually. My neighbor helped me with it. I still feel terrible for using all of her stickers and brads. That page was so embellished! Looking back now i want to rip it off and start over and de-clutter it. I wont though, that is what makes it fun! Seeing how time has changed, and how themes have changed.

Here is a picture of my first page, remember I was 11. So don't laugh (:

Everyone has their own idea of what pages should look like. But its so much more than that. It is a personal reflection of who you are. You can tell so much about a person by how they design their scrapbook pages.

Next time I will have a new page. I am very excited to reveal my pages and show some techniques new and old.

   Until then, I'm Ashley.
   Keep Smiling (:
